UHCL Mentors

Starting Fall 2014, the BSC Club is proud to announce the availability of BSC Mentors! The BSC Mentors are provided as a resource to you, the student, to help you in your academic pursuits.

If you have any questions, or need help, our Mentors keep regular office hours at UHCL in Delta 159.

Jose Daniel Velazco

Bio

Daniel is a Computer Science major at the University of Houston Clear Lake. He enjoys mathematics and is planning to double major in it. Some of his areas of interest include cryptography and cyber security, image/video compression, and computational science.

Miguel Rosales

Bio

Miguel is currently a junior at the University of Houston Clear Lake and is studying Computer Science. He is currently a recipient of the NSF-S STEM, and Texas Scholars in Computer Science Scholarships. In his time at University, Miguel has participated in Great Plains Honors Conference, Community College Aerospace Scholars, NASA Microgravity University MUREP program, Marine Advanced Technology Education International ROV competition, and First Year Engineering Experience Conference

Adriane Estes

Bio

Adriane Estes is a Computer Information Systems major, with a minor in Cyber Security. She hopes to become a Security Consultant after graduation. When she is not spending time with her daughter, Adriane enjoys playing video games and doing volunteer work with Houston Underground Punk Fest.

Christopher Rodriguez

Bio

Christopher Rodriguez is the mentor with the longest name. He is a junior Computer Science major with experience programming in C++, Python, and Java. His favourite class taken so far is Data Structures and he loves object oriented programming. Outside of computer related activities, he enjoys camping, hiking, rock climbing, and gardening.

Jeremy Le

Bio

Jeremy Le is a Computer Science major at the University of Houston - Clear Lake. His interests include web development, IoT, and cyber security. In his spare time, he either plays League of Legends, watches anime, or explores Houston.

Matthews Clay

Bio

Clay is currently a junior majoring in Computer Science as well as working towards a minor in Cyber Security. He has experience programming in Java and Python and is also able to help anyone with questions regarding Digital Circuits, Telecom, and Numerical Methods. He has participated in the annual STEM challenge where the team he was a part of won the coding challenge and received a $300 scholarship.

Paul Taplett

Bio

Paul previously attended Texas Tech University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English. Before attending UHCL, he was a middle school teacher for three years. He is now currently a junior post-baccalaureate at UHCL majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Web Security. Paul is looking forward to a career in the technology sector, specifically as a Software Engineer. He’s engaged by all aspects of science, math, and technology and with his background as an educator, he is always willing to sit down and help others learn any concepts they may be struggling with.

Peter Banfield

Bio

Peter Banfield is a Computer Science major with experience programming in C++, Java, and Python. His other experience includes 3D printing and object design, raspberry pi, and ardunio systems. He loves programming and wants to improve the world with the programs he writes.
